In the early '90s, the founder of CAcafe, Ted Chao, graduated from medical school in China to specialize in liver health, inventing preventative, healing herbal drinks that saw him honored across his homeland. By 1999, his family immigrated to the U.S. Here, combining his medical training in the East with the tastes of the West, Dr. Chao began producing brand-new formulae of health supplements and herbal drinks right out of his home kitchen in southern California.
By 2004, the Chao family was naturalized and had turned an idea into products on the shelves - one of Dr. Chao's earlier businesses, for example, brought Kombucha to stores long before it became the health go-to it is known as today in the U.S. In 2012, after over a decade of prototyping, combining the best of health and taste, and embracing the American small business entrepreneurial landscape, Dr. Chao launched his current venture: CAcafe.
The products spoke for themselves. Dr. Chao's unique traditional medicinal heritage and knowledge allowed him to harness the powers of nature to assist in weight management, nutrition, and other health journeys, creating a line of drinks that eventually found their way to the shelves of large stores like Costco, Wal-mart, Whole Foods, HEB, and more. From arriving in Los Angeles without a word of English to proudly stamping "Made in the U.S.A." on every jar of product, CAcafe is the culmination of twenty years of the classic immigrant story: starting in a new land, pulling oneself up by the bootstraps, and devoting the heart fully into only making the best, no matter the cost.
